I just started reading Scar Tissue, its an autobiography about Tony (Anthony) Kiedis, the lead singer of Red Hot Chili Peppers. It's his life, a story about women, drugs, music, and the hardships of life. His childhood is already fascinating, and I can't seem to put it down (even though I have a million tests to study for). I definitely recommend reading it, and I'm not even a quarter of the way through.
I remember seeing the Red Hot Chili Peppers several times during my college years. The most memorable time was in a warehouse off of Main Street. They seemed to be very much into the rock'n'roll lifestyle; I hope this book doesn't glorify that too much.

Some of my friends have read this book, and they've said some wonderful things about the unexpected talent of Kiedis as an author. This doesn't surprise me, as Kiedis' talent lies in not only his energy on stage, but also his creativity in song writing. I imagine this book to play out much like a typical TRHCP song or setlist--ebbing and flowing with deeply emotional issues, beautiful imagery, and sporadic energy. I'm going to read this book, thanks to this blog post!

I heard that this book is great from many people and I'm not surprised due to the fact that Tony Kiedis is a creative and amazing song writer. Even though it is really long I'm going to try and find time to read it.
ReplyDeleteLooks like something that could be recommended on Rolling Stone readers list. In fact, I'm going to check back copies to see if I it was already reviewed.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see the broad selection of books students are reading!

My brother read this book, and he recommended it to me. He told me that it's really interesting, so whenever i finish my other book I will think about reading this one.
