One of my new favorite books is Water For Elephants it's a pretty quick read and has a really different kind of plot about a guy who joins the circus during the Depression and his experiences there. It's told from different points of time though because it flashes back to him in a retirement home present day and him as a guy just out of college who joining the circus.
I know a lot of people who love this book, but I just could not get into it. It was hard for me to follow. Maybe one day I'll pick it up again and read it.
ReplyDeleteI loved this book as well. I enjoyed the historical aspect. Plus, I love animals and enjoyed hearing about their experiences as well, even though it was hard to read certain brutal parts.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this book. I thought the structure of the story really made it work. The flashbacks increased the suspense for me. I was also fascinated by the relationship between the main characters, and what people will do for those they think that they love. I also have spent some time wondering what happened after he left the nursing home!
